INTRODUCTION
The naming of a clan is a very sacred process. It is not dictated by the creativity alone of the facilitator, but is rather more of a download of information that best represents the existing energy of the group as a whole. Through intuition, meditation, inspiration, imagination, observation and deep listening the clan is named, not by a human, but through a human by the unseen energy source that connects us all one to another.

Although human issues are universal, what is so amazing about the dynamic of each clan is that the particular members of a clan hold a piece of each other's puzzle. Upon first appearance, this may not seem so, but the wheel is a study in this very principal, as we all get exactly what we need, exactly when we need it, in perfect order, every time. The people come together, time after time after time in service to each other.

We are but reflections of one another, until we are reflecting only what is inside of our heart of hearts. For it is then that we are not so much reflectors, as we are receptors and projectors. It is then that we are projecting the most essential part of our highest and finest selves from the very core of our being. And so it is wise to pay attention to everything and everyone that comes into your space. Let no blessing go unnoticed and no message go unheard. Be not fooled by the wrapping paper on the gift.

SMILING COYOTE'S POWER
The power of coyote is here now to help you move through the last vestiges of the illusions that linger as you awaken from the dream within the dream. Humanity has been on a powerful mission, a journey billions of earth years and as many more light years in the making. Up until this point, as a whole, humanity has not been ready to awaken from the dream of death. Now, we are becoming ready. Coyote, the master teacher who shows us the best and worst of ourselves through the tricks of our relationships is on the move, putting us on the fast track to release as many layers of denial as it takes for us to realize the full implications of being human.

Who is bunging you up, tricking you and keeping you off balance? Look to this great teacher in your life and receive the teaching. For there is great power building for your use. And remember, it's never "who", but "what". Coyote comes through repeating patterns of epic proportions and the more you repeat, the crazier and more insane the tricks become. And less we not forget that you might have a bit of the ole' coyote in you, as well, dishing out your own brand of humor along the way. It's time to lighten the load and realize that all work and no play is the biggest trick of all!

The Fool is also called the trickster and carries a bit of coyote magic as he or she stumbles innocently along the path. The Fool can help you remain innocent and pure so that you can experience the infusion of inspiration that comes with fresh awareness. But coyote is the one who walks with you and protects your innocence and keeps it from becoming your ignorance. (Hence the Fool depicted in the Rider-Waite tarot deck is assisted by a dog or is that a coyote in disguise?). Do not be deluded about the differences between innocence and ignorance. For innocence is what keeps you open to learning. Ignorance implies that you have "ignored" information that has been supplied to you.

It's time to release the archetype of victim completely from your vocabulary and your life. There is no "them", there isn't even an "us". If something is in your field of awareness, has an emotional charge, or is a repeating pattern in your life, then coyote has come calling. Then again, there is the other side of that coin. If there is something that you are completely ignoring and never makes it onto your radar, there's also something there. The coyote is most helpful in excavating your soul either way, whether you are acting in or acting out! Facing this can turn your life in a 180 degree direction, back into the light, back to your essential self and open the gates to a full measure of your own free will, as you clear your karmic patterns once and for all!

The coyote is also known as a Heyoka or Sacred Clown in native tribes and is considered a holy man. Sometimes the Heyoka's would come into the camp riding their horse backwards, waving hands, acting crazy and being disruptive. When that would happen the people would sit down and take notice. They knew that Great Spirit was conveying a message to them. The Heyoka's kept people from taking themselves too seriously or from becoming too rigid in their thinking or rituals. For in order to create, become enlightened and not have that knowledge become a velvet prison, the clowns know that you must always keep a touch of innocence about you.

Coyote Catches RoadRunner

The coyote is here to remind you that you must engage in humility, before you can become truly aware. As Carl Sagan puts it, we have developed "a great soaring, passionate intelligence", which may serve to limit us if we become arrogant and even inadvertently bind us to WHAT WE KNOW. In coyote land, the fool reigns supreme, and there's no shame in admitting you don't know. In fact, those are the magic words, that open all kinds of doors, especially if you are a true and pure seeker.

The Kabbalah says, “Every definition of God leads to heresy; definition is spiritual idolatry."

The smiling coyote is here to help you Learn, Un-learn and Re-learn with humility, awareness, wonder, excitement, humor, play and joy. He is here to teach you to see in a sacred manner all that is. He is here to help you release your victimhood and to understand the mysterious nature of being human. He is here to introduce you to the divine opposites and help you mine the gold that lay buried in the center of the labyrinth of your soul!

I walk the worlds between the wolves and the dogs. My brother wolves avoid humans and hold the space for the wildness of freedom, for humans have barely learned how to respect their own wildness. They teach you how to lead a pack and be in community, find a path and stay loyal to your tribe. My brother dogs have become one of you. They walk closely by your side and befriend you as family, submitting the greatness of the wolf in absolute humility to help you see if you are even worthy to lead such an unconditionally loving and wild being. But, I help you to run right up the middle path. You can depend on me for one thing and one thing only - your freedom!

My brothers are not afraid of humans as wolves are, nor are we beholding to you as dogs. We teach you how to remember what you truly are and that you can enjoy the best of both worlds!

I teach you how to respect and manage your wildness...the chaotic part of your soul that wants to create or invent something new, something untried, something that others have not yet remembered. COYOTE HISTORY
Despite being extensively hunted, the coyote is one of the few medium-to-large-sized animals that has enlarged its range since human encroachment began. It originally ranged primarily in the western half of North America, but it has adapted readily to the changes caused by human presence and, since the early 19th century, has been steadily and dramatically extending its range. Sightings now commonly occur in a majority of the United States and Canada. Coyotes inhabit nearly every contiguous U.S. state and Alaska.

Coyotes thrive in suburban settings and even some urban ones. Researchers studied coyote populations in Chicago over a seven-year period (2000–2007), proposing that coyotes have adapted well to living in densely populated urban environments while avoiding contact with humans. They found, among other things, that urban coyotes tend to live longer than their rural counterparts, kill rodents and small pets, and live anywhere from parks to industrial areas.

The main predator of the coyote is the grey wolf and where their territories overlap, coyote populations decrease. Coyotes will sometimes form a symbiotic relationship with American badgers. Because coyotes are not very effective at digging rodents out of their burrows, they will chase the animals while they are above ground. Badgers, on the other hand, are not fast runners, but are well-adapted to digging. When hunting together, they effectively leave little escape for their prey.

Coyote is well known for their adaptability.
